Chapter 54
Chapter 54:.
The people in the hallway still hadn’t noticed Tina.
Roger said as softly as ever, “Justin, the doctor that day looked like she was only twenty years old. It seems like we haven’t seen her since the operation, right?”.
One sentence from him was enough to raise everyone’s suspicions.
Raymond even pointed at Justin and shouted, “It’s okay!”. Even though his son pushed someone down the stairs, he, as a father, only knows how to blindly protect and pamper him! After that, he got a doctor to hurt his own grandmother! Justin, you have to give us an explanation for this in front of everyone in the family home!”
“He got some random doctor to treat her illness? That’s too much!”
“I didn’t expect Justin to be so cruel. She’s his grandmother…”
“…”
Everyone began to speculate among themselves.
Raymond and his son, Roger, exchanged a glance between them, and looks of triumph appeared on their faces.
Howard lowered his voice and began to fret as he heard their speculation. He said, “Why hasn’t great-grandma woken up yet, Justin? Who have you gotten to operate on her? I can’t hold them much longer.”
Justin’s eyes sparkled with intensity.
Since he had decided to ask her for help, he trusted her. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have approached her.
Since he said Grandma would regain consciousness on Sunday, she would surely wake up.
He said to her coldly, “Uncle Raymond, are you in such a hurry that you can’t even wait for nightfall?”
He didn’t speak very loudly. His voice was low and clear, but it inspired a lot of fear. Even in a noisy situation like this, it clearly reached the ears of everyone present.
Everyone in the hallway fell silent for a moment.
A mean and sinister look filled Roger’s eyes. With a smile still on his face, he replied, “Everyone here is a prominent member of the Hunts, Justin. We have both politicians and businessmen here. Are you going to tell them to wait when they’ve given up everything they had on hand to come here today?”
Raymond also added sharply, “You’re obviously stalling for time! It’s been half a month since the incident, and you’re still telling us to wait? Howard, there is substantial evidence to show that Peter Hunt injured his great-grandmother. Aren’t you going to take a clear position on this?
“And so is Justin. You have shown no regard for your grandmother’s life and had a random doctor operate on her, resulting in her quite possibly never waking up again. You need to take responsibility for this.”
He looked at Justin eagerly.
At first he had only intended to use this affair to get rid of the little bastard, but little did he think Justin would get involved as well. He had to seize the opportunity to take away his position as head of the family!
In their moment of triumph, a high-pitched woman’s voice suddenly reached them. “Who says Mrs. Hunt won’t wake up again? She’s already awake.”
Tina stepped aside to reveal a nurse helping Mrs. Hunt out dressed in hospital garb. The old woman had bandages around her head, but the look in her eyes was sharp.
When she came out, everyone in the hallway fell silent.
Raymond and Roger looked at each other. Then they both stepped forward in tandem and put on an act of agitated surprise.
“Mom!”
“Grandma!”
Raymond wanted to hug her, but Mrs. Hunt stretched out her arm. Then, with all her strength….
Slap!
A slap landed on Raymond’s cheek. A furious Mrs. Hunt scolded him, “You unhappy son! Pete was trying to get me to back down that time. He’s a good boy, why did he push me down the stairs? Are you trying to instigate a riot by gathering so many people here!”?
Raymond’s jaw dropped.
Roger stopped and stood still, the look in his eyes flickered a little. Then, without any change in his expression, he lowered his head and said, “I’m sorry, Grandma. Dad was worried about you…”
“Hmph!”
Mrs. Hunt decided to leave her grandson some dignity, so instead she looked at everyone else and said, “You can all go now.”
She returned to the living room after that.
Seeing that the whole charade was nothing more than a false alarm, the rest of the Hunts left one by one.
Justin and the others followed her into the living room. Nora also approached quietly.
As soon as she reached the door, she heard the old woman say, “It’s all thanks to Tina that I was able to wake up in time!”.
Tina was standing erect. She was wearing a white lab coat and looked confident. As she turned her scorching gaze on Justin, a faint smile also appeared at the corner of her lips.
“Mr. Hunt, this is the Rest Pill. It has a refreshing effect on the mind and is made by Mr. Myers, my teacher who taught me traditional medicine. There are only two such pills in the world, and only by special means did he manage to preserve them for 25 years. After much begging, I finally got him to give me one….”.
Nora, who was leaning nonchalantly against the wall and eavesdropping, was puzzled.
After 25 years of storage, even if the pill had not expired, it was probably no longer effective!
However, Tina exaggeratedly boasted about the effects of the pill. She said, “This pill not only has no side effects, but also can refresh the mind, detoxify and nourish the body. In addition, it can even treat patients with brain hemorrhage. It’s practically an elixir.”
The corners of Nora’s lips tightened.
What did Mrs. Hunt regaining consciousness have to do with that pill? The effects didn’t even correlate with her symptoms!
She shook her head and decided to simply turn around and leave.
Inside the room, derision flashed in Justin’s eyes.noveldrama
If that pill was really effective, why had Tina waited until today to give it to Grandma?
After all, wasn’t it only because Nora had successfully operated on her? That pill would only have a refreshing effect on the mind at best?
As she thought about that, she suddenly noticed a flash of movement outside the door. He stepped out to see a familiar figure entering the elevator.
The corners of Justin’s lips suddenly curved into a smile.
Hadn’t he said he wasn’t coming? But in the end she did. Was she worried about Grandma’s condition? Or was she…worried about him?
In the midst of her thoughts, she heard Raymond say, “Justin, I…”.
Justin’s countenance darkened and turned cold immediately. The look in his eyes was like the coldest of ice as he said, “Now that Grandma has regained consciousness, it’s time for us to settle some scores, Uncle Raymond.”

On the Andersons.
“What, the Rest Pill?” Sheena clenched her fists in fury. She swept the glasses off the coffee table onto the floor and shouted, “It’s obvious it was Sister who made them! Jon Myers has no shame – how dare he have the gall to say he had made them?”
Simon pursed his lips tightly. A discouraged look came over him and he said, “We don’t have the formula for it. Who’s going to believe us? On the contrary, they’ll even make fun of us and say we’re just jealous! The Myers have made a name for themselves by curing Mrs. Hunt. On top of that, they’re even using us as a springboard…. It’s probably all over for us and Harmonia Pharmacy now!”
Sheena’s eyes reddened. She gritted her teeth and said, “I have no problem with their advertising, but what makes them think they can step on us and outdo us?”
At that moment, Sheril entered the room. When she noticed the horrified looks on their faces, her heart sank. “Dad, Aunt Sheena, what’s wrong?”
Melissa stood up and said, “You’re still young, so don’t worry about adult matters. Why don’t you check out that pill for your grandmother and see if it’s fit for consumption instead?”
Sheril nodded.
She followed Melissa up the stairs. However, when they entered Mrs. Anderson’s room, they noticed that she was sitting on the couch, dazed. Startled, Melissa asked, “What’s the matter, Mom?”
The stunned old lady replied, “My eyes seem to be reacting a little…”.
Her words stunned Melissa. Then, she picked up the pill from the table and passed it to Sheril. “Quick, take a look at this! What kind of pill is it?”
