Nora

Chapter 58

Chapter 58:

The Rest Pill.

Nora said silently in her mind. However, when she thought about her mother instructing her not to be too flashy, she said nonchalantly, “I bought them at the Guardian Pharmacy. They say it invigorates and refreshes the mind. I didn’t ask the details.”

In other words, he had bought them without much thought.

Sheena said sharply, “What dumb luck, eh, didn’t I tell you? You’re so young; even if you know a little medicine, it’s not going to be that great…”

Melissa couldn’t stand listening to her anymore. She stepped in and said, “Sheena, no matter what the case is, we still have Nora to thank!”.

Sheena said mockingly, “Thank her? Do you need me to get down on my knees and bow to her, or set off some fireworks to celebrate?”

It was obvious she was being sarcastic, but the corners of Nora’s lips curved upward and she replied earnestly, “No, you don’t have to.”

Her voice was low and husky, which gave her a sense of calmness and firmness. He said, “You should apologize to my mother now.”

Sheena immediately felt her cheeks burning.

She clenched her fists and straightened her back. She avoided Nora’s gaze and said, “Why should I do that? Mom only went blind because she was so angry at your mother for running away from home. Isn’t it fair for you to cure her? Besides, we’re in this state because your mother up and left then! She’s the sinner in the family! Why should I apologize to her?”

Simon sighed. Then he sternly commanded, “Shut up, Sheena!”

Sheena felt she must have misheard him. Surprised, she looked up at him and asked, “Simon, are you really yelling at me about a streetwalker like her?”

Simon replied, “She’s not a streetwalker; she’s our sister’s daughter and my niece. She’s an Anderson! Apologize to our sister now!”

“You…” Sheena shouted angrily, “You’re determined to go against me? Well, you don’t need me to help you manage Harmonia Pharmacy anymore, do you?”

“…”

Simon was stunned.

Sheena had always been the one in charge of Harmonia Pharmacy’s manufacturing department all these years. In fact, it was also thanks to her that the business hadn’t gone bankrupt yet.

But what she had just said? Was she threatening him?

Seeing Simon’s silence, Sheena knew immediately that her threat had been effective. She straightened her back and sneered, “You have to suffer the consequences if you make a mistake! Sister made a mistake by eloping then, which sent our reputation plummeting. So why should I apologize to her, does she have the nerve to accept my apology?”

Slap!

Sheena, who was standing near the bed, was stunned when Mrs. Anderson’s slap landed on her cheek, and looked at her in disbelief.

Mrs. Anderson, who was trembling all over her body, shouted angrily, “Your big sister must have had her reasons! I forbid you to say that about her.”

Sheena stepped back. With a wry smile, she put her hand to her cheek and said, “You can shut me up, but can you shut up those people outside? His mother was a woman of low morals who eloped with another man, AND that held Ian Smith back for life! This is the biggest scandal among wealthy families in all of New York in the last two decades!”

Simon said sternly, “Sister had her reasons!”

“What reasons did she have!”

Sheena shouted hysterically, “We even found love letters in her room! She eloped! When will you people stop lying to yourselves?”

Turning to Mrs. Anderson and Simon, she said, “I’m going to say one last thing: in this family it’s her or me. Pick one.”

“…”

The room fell silent.

A silent Nora turned around and said, “I’m leaving.”

However, a large, warm hand grabbed her by the shoulder before she reached the door, and Simon’s slightly tired voice reached her, “Nora, where are you going? This is your home.”

She didn’t dare look at Sheena when he spoke, but her decision was already evident.

Sheena looked at Mrs. Anderson and then at Melissa; they both turned away.

Toward the end, she looked at Simon and said, “Okay! All right. The Andersons and the Myers are fighting now, but you’re pushing me away at a critical time like this because of that useless girl?

“Fine! I’ll go!”

Sheena turned and started to leave, but saw that no one was stopping her. When she reached the door, she stopped. A moment later, her eyes red-rimmed, she sneered, “You’re all partial to big sister, and you’ve forgotten that I’m the one who has led Harmonia Pharmacy for the past twenty years to where it is today!

“In that case, don’t blame me for hardening my heart! Simon, I will wait until Harmonia Pharmacy is completely crushed by the Myers! I’ll wait for the day it closes!”

After saying this, he turned and walked away.

Melissa frowned. “Has Sheena lost her mind, how dare she say something like that after a few heated words? She’s almost 50 years old and she’s still so impulsive.”

Then she looked at Simon with concern. “Now we’re at a critical point in the Andersons’ and Myers’ fight for market share-what do we do if Sheena really goes on strike?”

A worried Simon rubbed his temples. “We’ll do what we can and take it one step at a time!”.

Seeing how worried they both looked, Nora asked, “Uncle Simon, Aunt Melissa – is there anything I can help with?”

Simon sighed and replied, “No, it’s okay, Nora. You can stay home with Cherry.”

What the Andersons needed most at that moment was not a contest of trading skill, but an actual bona fide formula for a pill.

Thanks to Nora’s mother’s Rest Pill, the Myers had leaped to stardom among New York’s moneyed circles. If she, as well as the formula, were still around…. The ones leading the show would have been them now.

Phew!

A beleaguered Simon and Melissa left the house after deciding that they would head to Harmonia Pharmacy to think of a solution.

As for Nora, she gave her grandmother a detailed explanation on how to use the ointment next. She then spent some time accompanying her as she adjusted to life with her sense of sight again. Once she got going, Nora went downstairs.

During lunch, Sheril suddenly entered the villa.

Her eyes were shining. Seeing Nora, she flew toward her and exclaimed, “Nora! Is this pill the Resting Pill?”

“…”

At the same time.

The Hunt Corporation office building soared skyward in downtown New York.

On the top floor, Justin was in the middle of work.noveldrama

A very worried Chester was pacing the hallway with a million thoughts on his mind.

His little nephew had said that once the Smith woman cured Grandma, he would tell Justin the truth.

But why did it seem to him that Justin still didn’t know he had a daughter?

He shouldn’t keep it from his brother anymore.

During this last period of time, he had been terribly worried every day about how he should tell Justin the truth, leading him to have trouble eating and sleeping. He wasn’t even having fun killing mobs in the game anymore.

His little nephew wanted the two of them to start a family.

But, in his opinion, that was simply impossible!

Justin hated Pete’s mother so much. Wouldn’t it be too much if she kept the truth from him?

Justin was his big brother!

After doing enough ideological building and also coming to terms with the possibility that in the future there would no longer be anyone to carry him around, Chester took a deep breath and pushed open the office door.

Justin was in the middle of reviewing documents. His eyebrows were narrowed and even the beauty mark in the corner of his eye seemed to give off an aura of seriousness.

He looked up when he heard the door open.

Making eye contact, Chester immediately said, “Justin, actually, you can have a daughter, too!”
