Nora

Chapter 63

Chapter 63:

“What?”

Everyone was astonished.

Even Simon, Sheena and Melissa felt they must have misheard her, not to mention Vice Dean Lucas. After all, the place was loud and everyone was basically just talking about the Rest Pill.

Vice Dean Lucas was the first to recover. “What did you say, are you kidding me?”

However, something seemed to click in Melissa’s mind and she whispered, “Nora, do you have the formula for the Resting Pill? Now I get it! Your mother must have left it for you.”

She had vaguely heard her husband mention that Nora’s mother was the one who had developed the Rest Pill back then.

Nora nodded. “Yes. I’ve already given it to Sheril. I think we’ll be able to start mass production in a couple of days.”

She had thought everyone would be excited after she said that, but Simon’s jaw was tense and he said nothing.

Sheena’s eyebrows drew together tightly. “Don’t talk nonsense outside when the product isn’t finished yet. As expected, a girl like you is simply unreliable. You can’t keep calm and steady at all.”

Nora’s gaze turned a little cold.

Wasn’t her second aunt being a little too hostile to her?

The thought had just formed when Simon lowered his voice and said, “Nora, your mother only managed to manufacture the Resting Pills by chance back then, and even then, only one batch of five pills was successfully produced. The manufacturing process is a bit complicated and the success rate is extremely low. This is also the reason why Rest Pills had not become popular back then. Even with the formula, it will be difficult for us to mass produce them…”

Seeing the terrible look on Simon and Sheena’s faces, Vice Dean Lucas scoffed, “Tsk. Are you guys lusting after the Rest Pill just because you’ve seen that Mr. Myers has one? If the Rest Pill was something that any Tom, Dick or Harry could manufacture, Mr. Myers wouldn’t be treating the one he has as his store’s treasure!”.

Not too far away, another resounding laugh reached them. They all looked up to see Jon and Joel walking out together.

A relaxed look came over Jon’s features after he laughed. He said, “That’s it, Mr. Smith!”

Joel looked rather disappointed; it seemed that the talk just now hadn’t gone too well. After nodding, he walked away with flagging interest and his interest in the lecture became rather lackluster.

Nora watched him.

Joel’s eyes were downcast at the moment and he had lost the warm smile he had a moment ago. Perhaps because he was thinking about his uncle’s condition, there was something sad with melancholy on his handsome, elegant face.

… It was quite heartbreaking to see him like this.

Nora felt puzzled at the thought.

She had always been an apathetic person who preferred to make fewer friends if she got more sleep in return. The empathy she felt today came up in an inexplicable way.noveldrama

She shook her head, dismissing the thoughts in her mind.

Someone standing nearby asked Jon, “Didn’t Mr. Smith buy the pill?”

Jon sighed and replied, “Actually, the pill is of little use to Mr. Smith’s condition. He is in poor health and needs to be fed regularly to take care of his health. A pill is of little use to him.”

Now everyone understood.

The Rest Pill might be a lifesaver for others, but in the case of Ian, whose bodily functions were barely sustaining him, they needed one Rest Pill a day to slowly nurse him.

However, there was now only a single pill left in the whole world. Therefore, it was useless to him.

Jon continued. “However, we can’t ignore Mr. Smith’s condition either. I have arranged for Tina to go every day to perform health checks on Mr. Smith.”

This way, he would not offend the Smiths. She was very smart.

Someone nearby complimented her and said, “Dr. York is the latest pupil you have taken in; there are not many who can have her to give them health checks every day!”

“Now that modern medicine has such a prominent place in society, traditional medicine has lost a lot of importance; the only thing we can be proud of now is Myers of Peace Pharmacy! Mr. Myers, I hear it’s hard to get an appointment with you these days.”

Someone suddenly changed the subject and asked, “Mr. Myers, how much do you sell that pill of yours for? Name your price.”

“Yes, that’s right! Mr. Myers, is that pill for sale?”

“I would also like to buy it as a backup plan…”

A group of people approached Jon and surrounded him. And for a moment, the Myers delighted like nobody’s business. Even Tina, who was standing next to them, was proud to be associated with them.

Jon smiled and said, “It’s not for sale! It’s the last pill we have, so it’s the treasure of our store.”

Tina lifted her chin and said softly, “Mr. Myers has used a special method of preserving the pill for years. The cost of preserving it so it doesn’t expire already costs about $150,000 a year…”

“Hiss! That’s a lot of money! No wonder that pill hasn’t gone bad yet after 25 years…”

“With that pill, the Myers can dominate the world of traditional medicine!”

“…”

Jon’s gaze swept over the Andersons – who had been isolated and kept out by the others – in the distance as he listened to the compliments of the crowd. A sharp look crossed his countenance.

Suddenly, he said, “Traditional medicine requires one to accumulate and accumulate experience. You have to make do with what you have and calmly accumulate experience. More importantly, you must not be tempted by other things.Am I right, Simon?”

His words made everyone look at Simon.

Jon continued and said, “How glorious the Andersons were twenty years ago! There wasn’t anyone who didn’t know about the Andersons every time they were mentioned in traditional medicine and the pharmaceutical industry. But all these years, you and your second sister have devoted your time and efforts to making social contacts and making money. Your intentions in doing medicine are no longer pure.”

At being reprimanded in public, Simon and Sheena instantly blushed.

Melissa stepped forward and said with a smile, “Mr. Myers, Myers Peace Pharmacy’s core business is also selling medicine. Surely someone has to be in charge of making the sales, right? Speaking of which, when our older sister was in charge of making the medicines, I heard she even came to us for advice in person!”

Jon stared at her and sighed. He said, “Your older sister, Yvette Anderson, was certainly a rare pharmaceutical genius. She was the only one who had any hope of surpassing my prowess back then. What a pity she wasted her efforts at love and romance to end up eloping with a man instead! How shameless! If she had behaved and been content with her lot back then, she probably would have been able to create the Resting Pill as well.”

Simon was quite angry. He said, “Yvette was the one who created the Rest Pill in your possession!”

Sheena was also furious.

At the time, Yvette had made five pills. Jon had borrowed two in the name of research and observation.

Then Yvette had gotten into trouble before she could improve the formula. The three pills they had were also used on a patient, AND everyone had forgotten to ask for the two Rest Pills back!

But now, not only was he using those two pills to suppress the Andersons, but he was also claiming that he was the one who had manufactured them… What a scoundrel!

Jon smiled and said nothing.

Tina, however, frowned and said, “That’s a very strange claim you make, Uncle Simon. If the Andersons were really the ones who manufactured the Rest Pills, why would they be in my master’s possession while you have none?”

“Exactly. How can the Andersons be so shameless? They’re actually stealing credit for the Myers’ pills…”

“The Rest Pills are very difficult to make. The two that Mr. Myers has were only made successfully by chance. How can the Andersons say they are theirs? If the Andersons made them, why don’t they bring them out?”

“Besides, they even say that Yvette was the one who made the pills. She’s dead now; without her, of course, they can say whatever they want. Unless they can manufacture the Resting Pill, who’s going to believe them?”

In the midst of the speculation, a cold voice slowly came to them, “Who says the Andersons don’t have any Rest Pills?”
