Master of his heart (Brielle and Max)

Chapter 1462

Kailee let out a long, weary sigh, feeling an emptiness that gnawed at her both inside and out. In an attempt to fill the void, she wandered downstairs and absentmindedly flicked through the TV channels, hoping for something to catch her eye. But nothing seemed to do the trick.

Her mind drifted to Lewis. What was he doing right now? Had that guy put some sort of spell on her? It was the only thing that made sense because, after just one day apart, she already found herself missing him.

Sinking deeper into the couch, Kailee felt a wave of self-pity wash over her. She'd heard stories about tribes in Australia who were adept at witchcraft. Could Lewis have used some kind of dark magic on her? It sounded absurd, yet how else could she justify these unwanted feelings?noveldrama

After a sleepless night, tossing and turning, Kailee was exhausted. The week before had been so cozy and comforting that the stark contrast now felt unbearable. The family doctor, after a thorough check-up, insisted there was nothing wrong with her physically; she just needed rest. But sleep was elusive.

The maid, noticing her distress, gently asked if there was anything she fancied eating. Kailee rattled off a list of dishes, only to remember that the household chefs couldn't make any of them. Defeated, she sighed, "Never mind, just bring me some toast."

If last week was paradise, being home felt like a descent into misery. Even the perks of her wealth couldn't lift her spirits. She missed those lazy days in bed, and, despite herself, she longed for Lewis - handsome as he was, enough to have Robin, a woman of considerable influence, chasing after him non-stop.

The idea of Lewis marrying Robin

was intolerable. If that happened, Robin's disdain for her would

mean she'd never get to enjoy his delicious desserts or his relaxing massages again. Jolted by the thought Kailee sat up in bed, thinking she couldn't let that happen.

Why shouldn't she be the one to marry Lewis? With his precarious financial situation, a few million dollars from her would surely be enticing. Her brother had already given her half of the Sanchez family fortune, so he likely wouldn't object.

With her mind made up, Kailee quickly got dressed and drove to Lewis's place, only to find him out, probably at the research institute. She waited for him to finish work, her determination growing stronger.

When they finally met at a café,

ét

Lewis seemed a bit irritable, but Kailee didn't let that stop her. She blurted out her marriage proposal, and Lewis's reaction was instant coffee sprayed from his mouth clearly caught off guard. Trying to stay composed, she laid out her case: the wealth, the global

properties, the luxury cars - all to secure a comfortable life for him.

Lewis, surprised by the sheer scale of what she offered, wondered how no one had managed to swindle all this from her yet. Her naivety was as striking as her fortune.

Seeing his uncertainty, Kailee's

frustration bubbled over. Could he really be thinking of marrying Robin? Tears wetted up in her eyes as she accused him of being a jerk for not appreciating the lavish lifestyle she was offering, especially since he hadn't even bought her a handbag after their night together Now, he seemed hesitant to marry her.
