Nora

Chapter 70

Chapter 70:.

Chester grew up with Justin, so his older brother had always inspired awe and respect in him as if he were his father.

Therefore, he felt very guilty about hiding the truth from Justin.

If Justin didn’t ask, he wouldn’t say anything. But now that he had, he shouldn’t lie!

As such, he stammered, “Your…. your daughter…”

His daughter? Well, the little streamer had called him Daddy for two hours, but he was actually her real Daddy Sponsor.

At that moment, a quiet voice reached them. “What live stream are you talking about?”noveldrama

Pete sat up straight. Although his voice still had a childlike quality to it, it nevertheless gave off a sense of calm and firmness.

Chester replied, “My team leader at the game hosted a live broadcast today…”.

Justin snorted coldly. “You really recognize a five or six year old girl as your leader? How promising of you.”

Pete, “…”

The leader of Uncle Chester’s team in the game was Cherry.

She calmed down her expression and began to talk nonsense with a serious expression. “Uncle Chester, you must have been tricked. A lot of people use voice modulators these days.”

Chester, “?”

However, Justin said, “It didn’t sound like he was using a voice modulator.”

However, he didn’t dwell on this. Instead, after shooting a glance at Chester, he asked dispassionately, “Do you intend to play for the rest of your life?”

Chester shook his head. “Actually, I want to be a professional e-sports player and set up my own team, but I don’t have that kind of money. I-”

“Is eight million enough?” Justin’s voice was cold and crisp as he nonchalantly cut off a piece of his steak.

Chester was stunned.

As he looked at Justin, his eyes suddenly reddened. It was like when he was still a kid. When he had said he didn’t want to study, no one in the family had supported him. Everyone had called him useless. Justin was the only one who had asked him, “So, what do you want to do?”.

Justin had always respected his dreams.

Chester lowered his head. His voice sounded a little choked as he answered, “Yes.”

“Well, I think that girl has a bright future ahead of her,” Justin said, “You can recruit her to your team.”

Chester, “?”

All his emotions from a moment ago evaporated in an instant.

If Justin knew that was his daughter, he probably wouldn’t even think about it anymore!

He stammered, “Justin, you seem to like my team leader quite a bit.”

“That’s okay, I guess.”

Justin held out another piece of steak and said, “This tastes pretty good.”

“…”

On the Smiths.

Before he knew it, it was already noon. Joel walked into the room and saw Ian looking at the screen of the live stream that had already ended.

After a moment’s hesitation, he asked, “Is there anything you feel like eating today, Uncle Ian?”.

At first he had thought he would have no appetite, as usual, and would just patronize him a bit, but, unexpectedly, Ian replied, “A steak, I guess.”

Joel was taken aback.

His uncle had not eaten meat for several years. Because he had lost the will to live, he had lost interest in everything, including eating.

What had happened?

Joel couldn’t figure it out, so he simply decided not to think about it anymore. He was fine as long as Uncle Ian was willing to eat!

“Mmm!”

Cherry stuffed a piece of steak into her mouth, which was so full that her cheeks were bulging. Her lips were full of fat and her big black eyes were filled with a rich sense of satisfaction. She didn’t speak clearly as she said, “This is delicious!”.

Her adorable appearance gave Melissa, who had prepared the meal, a sense of satisfaction. She patted him on the head and said, “If Cherry likes it, Great Aunt Melissa will make some for you again!”

“Good!”

Cherry nodded repeatedly as she doled out compliments generously. “Not only is Great Aunt Melissa pretty, but she’s also kind and a great cook! Aunt Sheril is lucky to have a mom like you.”

No sooner had she said that than she saw Nora coming down the stairs. Cherry blinked and added, “But my mom is super awesome too!”.

Nora raised an eyebrow. “Oh? What part of me do you think is awesome?”

Cherry thought for a while. Then, she tilted her head and replied, “You’re awesome at sleeping!”

“…”

Nora decided not to say anything to the little girl. After stretching and yawning, she walked over, took a seat and finished her meal in a few bites.

There was an unusual guest at the table today – Logan Anderson.

He ate slowly and gracefully. When he saw Nora devouring her meal, he inadvertently curved his lip.

The way her cousin ate as if she had never eaten anything in her life….

She lowered her beautiful almond-shaped eyes. There was no contempt in her eyes, however, but only a thoughtful look.

After lunch, Nora went upstairs and packed Cherry’s backpack for school. When she came back downstairs, Cherry had almost finished eating as well.

Seeing the backpack in her hands, a stunned Melissa asked, “Where are you going, Nora?”

Nora replied, “To an interview.”

“At Sol de Oro International Kindergarten?”

“Yes.”

Melissa apologized, “But we don’t have any interview slots. Give me a little time; I’ve already asked my family, although they haven’t given me any answers yet…”

No sooner had she said that than the piercing sound of the chair dragging against the floor rang out.

Logan stood up abruptly. “Mom, did you go back to the Woods and let them bully you again?”

As if afraid Nora would notice something, Melissa scowled toward Logan and said, “Logan, shut up!”

Logan snorted. “Mom, have you forgotten what you told Sheril and me in the past? Does attending that daycare even make any sense?”

Melissa had never been one to worry about superficial formalities like that.

When Sheril and Logan didn’t get a spot in the interview to enroll in daycare, she had told the two children, “Enrolling in daycare doesn’t make you noble. What makes you a noble character is when you value and respect yourself.”

Melissa, however, frowned.

Holding Logan, she lowered her voice and said, “Nora is different from you two! She grew up somewhere else. If Cherry can’t even attend that kindergarten, I’m worried that Nora won’t be able to hold her head up in the circle in the future!”

Logan understood all this.

But the moment he thought his elegant, graceful mother was returning to the Woods to be abused by others…..

He said desultorily, “Do you really think she can enroll Cherry in kindergarten even if she has a letter of recommendation? There’s no way she’ll pass the interview.”

Melissa patted him on the shoulder and said, “That’s why I brought you here. I want you to take them there and accompany Nora to the interview.”

Logan was stunned.

He clenched his jaw. His features, which were similar to Nora’s, carried an air of unbridled defiance and defiance. He said, “But the Woods haven’t even sent the letter of recommendation yet!”

Melissa sighed. She knew her sister-in-law must be making things difficult for her again. She said, “I’ll call them and urge them.”

Rather than saying she was ‘nagging’ them…. Actually it was more like he was begging them.

Logan’s expression turned even colder. It was at that moment that they both heard a cold, indifferent voice, “You don’t have to beg them for one. I already have an interview slot.”

Startled, Melissa looked at Nora and asked, “How did you get the spot, Nora?”

Nora was about to give her a simple explanation when her cell phone rang.

As she picked it up, she heard the voice of Lisa, her cousin from California, communicating with her over the phone. She said, “Nora, I suspect you are not Uncle Henry’s daughter at all.”
