Chapter 71:

Nora’s feline eyes twinkled as she listened to her. Then, she raised an eyebrow and asked, “Why do you say that?”.

By then, Lisa had already continued talking angrily. Even so, her voice still sounded tender when she said, “Uncle Henry found out I’m going to New York for my internship, so he came to our house today, told my mother and me to come to you for money. He even said he won’t make life easy for you if you refuse, is there anyone who would treat his daughter like that?”

Nora laughed softly and asked, “Are you coming to New York?”

Lisa sounded disappointed as she said, “Yes…. Both Angela and I are going to New York. I…am going to do an internship, while she is going to apply for a graduate position at New York Medical School. The reason I’m calling you is to tell you this.”

He was probably worried that Angela would give him trouble after arriving in New York.

However, Nora didn’t take it seriously. Instead, she asked, “Do you need me to arrange accommodations for you?”

“No, that’s fine. I’ve already booked a hotel room.”

Nora didn’t insist. “Okay.”

It was almost time for the interview, so she didn’t say anything else after telling him to look her up if he ran into any problems. After hanging up, her expression turned cold. Her eyes were downcast and her emotions were unreadable.

Henry had probably treated her badly due to her stepmother marrying into the family, as well as the fact that she had been slowly gaining weight, so it was embarrassing to bring her around, wasn’t it?

However, Lisa’s ‘I suspect you’re not Uncle Henry’s daughter’ couldn’t help but keep echoing in her mind.

Logan approached her. She was wearing a set of black sportswear and white limited edition sneakers, and her short hair was tousled. He looked up at her with his feline eyes so like hers and asked impatiently, “Are you coming or not?”

“He’s so cool!”

Cherry circled the sports car. She touched the headlights with her little hand, turned to look at Nora and said, “Mom, I want to buy a sports car when I grow up, too! I want a pink one.”

Nora smiled and replied nonchalantly, “Sure.”

When Logan saw that both mother and daughter had the courage to say what they said, he couldn’t help but scoff.

He slid into the driver’s seat gently and said, “Get in.”

Nora was a little speechless. “… Are you going to drive us there in this car?”.

Logan frowned impatiently and said, “Get in if I tell you. What’s the point of all this superfluous nonsense?”

If he didn’t take them up there in this car, how was he going to restrain those people in the garden?

The car was exactly the reason Melissa had called him home.

It was her precious treasure.

Even Sheril wasn’t allowed to sit in it usually.

She turned to see that both Nora and Cherry had stepped back. They said in unison:

Logan lifted his chin slightly. The two of them had a very good eye for things, huh.

In fact, not just anyone was qualified enough to sit in the passenger seat of this car. It was understandable if they were nervous or scared.

Those two practically couldn’t recognize a good thing when it was put in front of them!

At first he had been heartbroken at the thought of someone sitting in Little Yellow, but now that they were no longer in the car, it turned out to be exactly what he wanted.

It struck Nora that this cousin of hers was rather smug in a nice way. She rubbed her chin and stared at Logan.

Judging by his and Sheril’s age, they were probably just out of college. Sheril didn’t come home often because she was always at the pharmaceutical lab, so what was Logan doing then?

Logan felt a little uncomfortable. He got in the car, closed the door and said, “What are you looking at, you’ve never seen a cute guy before?”

Nora looked up slightly at the Ferrari. Suddenly, she asked, “Do you like racing?”

At the mention of racing, Logan’s eyes lit up.

He started the car and got out. “Yes.”

Cherry’s eyes widened and she said, “Uncle Logan, Mom and I like racing, too! Can you take Cherry and Mom with you when you enter a race next time?”

Logan unconsciously wanted to refuse.

Sheril had also begged him to take her to one before, but he had refused. These two, though… He glanced at Nora in the rearview mirror and saw that she was leaning against the seat, apparently asleep.

Then, he thought about how hungry she looked when she ate….

The attitude her mother maintained towards them was also as if she feared that the two of them would be belittled, thus damaging their self-esteem.

The corners of Logan’s lips curved slightly as he replied, “First place.”

He spoke not with arrogance or impetuousness, but with a great deal of self-confidence.

Cherry clapped her hands and said, “You’re awesome, Uncle Logan!”.

After all, this was a topic that interested Logan. So, he ended up talking a little more than usual. He said, “My accomplishments are nothing. The international runner Yanci is the one who is truly awesome. He’s my idol.”

Cherry looked at mom when she heard what he said. Then, she whispered, “Uncle Logan, I’m going to tell you a secret, do you know who Yanci is?”
