Chapter 72
Chapter 72:
Logan raised his eyebrows. “Tsk, you make it sound like you’ve seen it before.”
Cherry smiled and said, “Yanci is-”
“Cherry.”
A warning came to Cherry and the words ‘my mommy’ did a 180 in her mouth and came back down her throat. Finally, she said weakly, ‘I can’t tell anyone.’
Logan was speechless.
The corners of his lips twitched and he couldn’t help but think the girl must be showing off.
It didn’t matter, life was hard enough for them. She wasn’t going to bring their little lies to light.
Since they didn’t want to embarrass them, she would stop talking about it.
The garden was very close to the Anderson residence, so it only took them ten minutes by car to get there.
It certainly lived up to its name of being the best kindergarten in New York. The Sol de Oro International Kindergarten was like a palace, the exterior looked magnificent and high-end.
There were parents there who had arrived early and were waiting to pick up their children. The cars they were driving were worth millions or were regular cars with flashy license plates.
When their jeep pulled up in front of the daycare center, the security guard frowned and asked, “What is the purpose of your visit?”
Logan took a deep breath and replied, “We’re here for an interview.”
The security guard wore an expensive-looking uniform. He said brusquely, “You can’t drive in, so come in on foot.”
Logan parked the car on the shoulder. As soon as they got out of the car, they saw the security guard impatiently let in a Rolls-Royce Phantom.
Logan’s expression darkened. The slim young man was half a head taller than Nora. He lowered his head slightly and said with a hint of distaste, “Did you see that? Sometimes a car is a status symbol in itself.”
However, the young woman took Cherry’s hand and continued walking as if she were taking a stroll, looking unaffected.
Nora scanned the kindergarten.
Although the security guard judged people by the cars they drove, after entering the compound, one realized that the kindergarten had been fastidiously designed, with every detail highly exquisite. As for its facilities, they passed with flying colors.
Next to him, a disgruntled Logan complained, “A place where even the security guards are so critical is not suitable for children at all, let alone your daughter! You don’t have to prove yourself this way! There are many outstanding people in our circle who did not attend this kindergarten!”
Nora knew Logan was right.
In a place like this, where the students were wealthy or from noble backgrounds, children competed more with their family backgrounds, so they should already be sorted into different social classes in kindergarten.
Although a place like this did not suit normal children, it suited Cherry just fine.
Cherry had a high IQ and was someone who could not sit still. She was fickle and lost interest in things very quickly. She was also very smart and always found various excuses not to study when she was at home.
It is likely that only the stimulation provided by such an environment would be able to make her concentrate.
After all, she couldn’t let Cherry play all her life, could she?
When Logan saw that the young woman didn’t seem to have any intention of changing her mind despite the fact that he had expressed it so clearly, the usually reticent man simply decided not to say anything more.
He did, however, let out a snort inwardly.
Did he really think he could enroll his daughter in kindergarten just because he had gotten a spot in the interview?
The two of them walked all the way from the security guard post to the main kindergarten building. The more Nora saw, the more satisfied she felt. Before they entered the interview room, she squatted down, looked at Cherry and said, “Cherry, if you can stay here for the three-month interview without revealing your identity or using your family’s power of attorney, Mom will agree to a request of yours. Can you do that?”
A request….
Cherry’s eyes lit up. She nodded and said, “Yes, Okie-Dokie!”.
This way, she would get Mom to agree to live with Dad.
After arriving in New York, things were different than when they were staying in a hotel in California. It was no longer convenient for her to switch places with her brother!
Beside them, Logan scoffed under his breath.
Without revealing their identity? Indeed, they must not reveal the fact that she is the daughter of a woman who is not from around here, lest the other children look down on her.
Without using her family’s power? The Andersons couldn’t even get a spot in the interview. What could they use?
How dared that woman say such grandiose things?
Those who knew nothing else would have thought Cherry was a Hunt or a Smith!noveldrama
The light flickered in her feline eyes that resembled Nora’s and she gave them a reminder. “It’s time for the interview.”
The three of them walked into the principal’s office together.
Logan frowned and unconsciously straightened his back as he thought of the intense barrage of questions he had experienced when his mother had taken him and Sheril for an interview back then.
What happened next, however, was….
“This is Cheryl Smith’s school uniform. You can bring her here for classes tomorrow. Remember not to be late.”
After the polite exchange, the Principal personally dismissed them and said, “Miss Smith, I’ll see you out.”
“No, that’s okay.”
After Nora’s calm reply, he left the office with Cherry and Logan, who was feeling a little queasy.
As the three of them left, someone asked, “Sir, who is it, and to think they are exempt even from the interview.”
The Director shook his head and replied, “The big shots called specially to leave instructions, and they also said they were your friends. I didn’t dare ask about the details.”
Logan frowned all the way home.
Even after he got home, he still felt like he was dreaming.
Nora took Cherry’s hand and walked into the living room. As soon as she did, she heard two people inside talking. One of them had a very high-pitched voice and sounded a little arrogant. He said, “Why didn’t you wait for me, Melissa? I was just an hour and a half late, that’s all. Don’t you have even that shred of patience when you ask for help enrolling in a good garden?”
Melissa forced a smile and replied, “Sorry, Miranda. Nora said she already got a spot in the interview thanks to someone else’s help.”
Nora, Logan and Cherry walked into the living room as the two talked.
Melissa’s sister-in-law was a woman in her fifties. Her name was Miranda Wood and she was the wife of Melissa’s older brother. One glance at the way she dressed and her demeanor was enough to know that she was a wealthy housewife. Her chin was slightly raised as she watched the people who had just entered.
Nora was expressionless, so it was hard to tell if she was happy or sad.
However, Logan, who had followed her in, didn’t look so good. This made Melissa sigh inwardly. She got up, walked over and said, “It’s okay. We can still look for other kindergartens.”
Miranda walked over. She seemed to gloat as she said, “The interview questions for that daycare are different depending on who the interviewee is! For families like mine, the interview is just a formality. Most of the students are excellent children selected from average families…”
After saying that, she smiled and continued. “Oops, when I say ‘average families’, I actually don’t mean real average families, but average-level rich families. The ones that have fallen into decline are not counted because they don’t even get interview slots…”
It was clear he was implying things about the Andersons.
Melissa tightened her grip on her handkerchief slightly, and even the smile on her face became somewhat forced.
Miranda smiled and looked at Nora. With a huge sense of superiority, she said, “It’s normal that you didn’t pass the interview. After all, not just anyone can get in even if they have a letter of recommendation.”
As soon as she said that, Cherry looked up and said adorably, “Huh? Are there people who need to go through interviews?”
Miranda was taken aback. “What do you mean?”
