Master of his heart (Brielle and Max)

Chapter 1465

Walking into the diner, Kailee held onto Lewis's arm like she was the queen bee, radiating with triumph.

"Oops, sorry we're late, everyone. Lewis had some last-minute data stuff to handle, and honestly, it was all Greek to me," she said, flashing a sweet smile.

Ruebin was floored seeing Lewis actually show up, and with Kailee hanging onto him, no less. The others were just as stunned. As Lewis settled in, with Kailee still glued to his side, she decided to rub it in a bit more, calling out to him in the most over-the-top affectionate way. "Honey, these are the girls I've been talking about. How about you treat us today?" she asked, her eyes gleaming with mischief.

Lewis's lips curled into a smile. "Sure thing."

Ruebin, sitting close to Kailee, felt a surge of disbelief and anger at her words. Could it really be? Had Kenzo gotten hitched this fast?

"Kenzo, did Kailee really dump you back then, and now you're married to her?" he asked, incredulous.

Kailee froze. If Lewis blurted out the truth now, she'd be the butt of tonight's jokes-even though they were married. Knowing Ruebin, he'd be hoping for a split just to swoop in and play the hero.

Lewis glanced at Kailee, noticing the guilt in her eyes, clearly worried her fib would come to light.

"Yeah, I waited for her for years," Lewis replied smoothly.

Ruebin's eyes widened in disbelief. It was hard to wrap his head around Lewis saying something like that.

Tears welled up in Ruebin's eyes, and she grabbed her purse, ready to bolt.

But Kailee wasn't about to let this moment of victory slip away. Just a moment ago, she was worried about being found out, but Lewis had played along perfectly!

Securing Lewis early on was the best decision she'd ever made, she thought. Now, no one would ever know their past.

She discreetly gave Lewis a thumbs-up, then turned to Ruebin with a smug grin.

"Oh, Ruebin, leaving already? My hubby finally got some time off. I hoped you all could get to know him better. I never imagined someone would think about me for so long. I'm so touched. I must have saved the galaxy in a past life, haha!" Kailee laughed heartily, her confidence filling the room.

The rest of the group couldn't take it anymore; this woman was too much.

Once everyone had left, Kailee looked around, confused.

"Why'd they all leave? I hadn't even started bragging yet."

She let go of Lewis's arm and sighed.

"They always go on about my education. If I wanted a degree, lo could just donate a building, right? It's just that I don't want to. You get it, Lewis? It's not that I can't; just don't want to."

It wasn't that she didn't want to; she was just a bit lazy. Even if she did donate a building, she'd have to earn the grades to graduate, which was a hassle she wasn't keen on. But she didn't want Lewis to think less of her for not going to college. Even without attending, she'd heard all about his accomplishments.

Lewis, seeing right through her, chuckled.

"Yeah, you're just not cut out for the ordinary."

That's exactly how Kailee wanted to describe herself but couldn't quite find the words.

"Exactly," she agreed, nodding enthusiastically.

Lewis couldn't help but laugh as Kailee continued to boast.

"Being with me is like hitting the jackpot. A character like mine is rare. If I hadn't decided against romance, you wouldn't have stood a chance."

It was as if her past rejection by King never happened. In her version, she was the one who decided not to pursue love.

Lewis kept smiling, and eventually, Kailee felt a bit sheepish about her exaggerations.

Clearing her throat, she suggested, "Let's not eat here. Even if we ordered the whole menu, it wouldn't

fill me up. Let's go to that restaurant we tried last time." noveldrama
