Chapter 76
Chapter 76:
Nora was driving a jeep, but the way she was driving it, it was like she was driving a sports car instead.
Screeeeeeech!
The car stopped at the garden gate. He got out and headed toward the kindergarten.
Miss Lynn, the teacher who had taken Cherry to kindergarten earlier that day, was waiting there. She was a young woman in her early twenties and she was terrified.
How distraught must the parents have been, having something go wrong on the first day they sent their child to kindergarten?
With that thought in mind, she stepped forward to Nora and said, “Miss Smith…”.
Nora interrupted her and asked, “Are the children well?”.
Miss Lynn, “…”noveldrama
The teacher, confused, replied, “….. Yes, they are.”
When Nora came in with the teacher, she asked, “Are the teachers okay, too?”
“… Yes, they are all fine.”
Nora was taken aback. “In that case, who did Cherry hit?”
She unconsciously looked toward the garden gate. “The security guard?”
Miss Lynn, “?????”
How could Cherry be able to hit such a big and tall security guard, especially if he had even gone through professional martial arts training?
No, wait, they had rambled on too long.
Mrs. Lynn said anxiously, “Cherry has fainted!”.
This time it was Nora’s turn to be surprised. “I’m sure she’s faking it.”
Although Cherry had been born a month early, as a doctor, Nora had nursed and cared for Cherry very well. Although she looked a little thinner than most, she was actually as strong as a young calf!
Fainted? Cherry?
Miss Lynn was so dumbfounded that she couldn’t even utter the words of comfort she had originally wanted to say. She said flatly, “It’s true!”.
This piqued Nora’s curiosity and she said, “I’ll go take a look.”
Miss Lynn followed her and said, “It’s in the dance studio. Don’t worry, Miss Smith. I know you are not in good health, so it must have been difficult raising Cherry all these years. Besides, Cherry is a very lovely and obedient child. I’m sure we’ll hold the culprit responsible.”
Nora was speechless.
Only then did she realize that the teacher was now calling Cherry by her nickname instead of ‘Cheryl Smith’, as she had done when Nora had sent her to kindergarten….
So what exactly happened today?
Despite claiming that it was impossible for Cherry to have fainted, Nora nevertheless obviously picked up the pace. Miss Lynn could not catch up with her even when she trotted briskly behind her.
As soon as they entered the dance studio, Nora immediately saw Cherry lying on the couch. A few teachers were gathered around her, and next to them was a girl in a dance practice outfit who was crying her eyes out. A teacher, also wearing a dance practice outfit, was trying to soothe her.
Was Cherry really hurt?
As Nora approached, she heard the garden doctor say, “Don’t worry, Miss Smith. I’ve already checked her out. Cherry seems to be absolutely fine. She probably fainted because she was too aggrieved. Gee.”
“…”
Yes, aggrieved, my ass.
From the moment she held Cherry’s wrist and felt a strong pulse, Nora knew immediately that she was only pretending.
She couldn’t help but hold her forehead.
She had barely warned her not to pretend to cry in the morning, and she was already pretending to faint?
Still, the little girl’s eyes were still and unmoving. His performance was quite good.
She tickled Cherry’s palm, “Stop acting and wake up.”
Cherry tickled Nora’s palm back, ‘Mom, don’t expose me!’
Nora was speechless.
She coughed and asked, ‘What happened?’
By this time, Miss Lynn had also entered the dance studio. Seeing that she seemed calm and hadn’t started ranting at the teachers as soon as she walked in, she immediately felt even more strongly that Cherry’s family must be reasonable people.
“The kindergarten is going to celebrate its 50th anniversary soon, so we are going to have a big party to which all the parents will be invited. The kindergarten is going to select twenty children for the final dance. I’ve seen that Cherry is very talented, so I wanted to let her try out for the dance, but in the end she got into a conflict with her classmate Sinead Lowe…”
Sinead was probably the girl who cried.
Nora looked at her. The girl’s posture was erect and upright. It was obvious, at a glance, that she had been through dance training before. Only, even though so much time had passed, she was still crying. It was obvious how spoiled she had been.
As I was thinking, the dance teacher who was petting Sinead stood up. She had an air of elegance about her, though she also had a slightly arrogant look about her. She frowned and said, “I’m Whitney Lowe, Sinead’s mother.”
She walked to the side and pulled out a bag. Then, she pulled a wad of bills from inside and threw it in Nora’s face. “I’m taking responsibility for this and paying Cheryl Smith’s medical expenses. This should be enough to still have something left for you afterwards. In that sense, the two of you have even benefited a little.”
Nora was puzzled.
A cold look appeared on her face. She looked up at Miss Lynn and asked, “What exactly is going on?”
Miss Lynn looked at the dance teacher and quietly explained, “Sinead’s mother is a dance teacher that the kindergarten hired especially. She was runner-up in the girls’ category of an international dance competition. Then she married into the Lowe’s, a wealthy family. Now she is a famous dance teacher in the circle….
Cherry is very smart and learned the dance very quickly, but Sinead kept saying she wasn’t good at it. Then the two girls got into an argument and Mrs. Lowe scolded Cherry a little. After that, she fainted with anger….”.
As soon as she said that, Sinead shouted, “That’s because everyone is looking at her when she dances! I’m the center! Don’t let her on stage!”
As soon as she said that, the teachers were even more embarrassed.
Now Nora understood.
Cherry had big eyes and fair skin, she looked very adorable. She was certainly very striking among the group of children in the garden.
Sinead was the center, but Cherry had stolen all the limelight from her, so she felt dissatisfied.
Whitney was her dance teacher, so no doubt she would have a soft spot for Sinead.
Cherry had always been smart and was someone who refused to let anyone give her the cold shoulder. Since she was at a disadvantage, she had pretended to faint so that Sinead couldn’t say anything even if she wanted to.
Nora couldn’t help yawning.
She had always been a person who confronted others head on and did everything directly and bluntly. Who had her daughter inherited all those little ideas from? She really was very… silly.
She picked up Cherry and prepared to leave.
However, Whitney stepped in front of her as soon as she got up. The woman, cold and stiff, said arrogantly, “Mrs. Smith, your daughter is very moody. All they did was argue a little, and she could still faint from anger.”
Nora, “?”
She didn’t even make a fuss, and yet Whitney was starting one instead?
She stood still and turned away.
Whitney pointed at Cherry and said to Miss Lynn, “That girl has a poor physique. I just checked her body. She’s very stiff and not fit to be a dancer. Remove her from the next performance and change her for someone else.”
Sinead immediately clapped her hands and said, “Yes, have her removed! Don’t let her on stage.”
Miss Lynn looked angry.
She said hesitantly, “But I thought Cherry danced pretty well just now…”
“What part of that was good?” Whitney reprimanded sharply, “Are you the professional here, or am I? Her movements were stiff and too energetic right now. She also didn’t keep up with the rhythm and ended up missing the beat several times, which put her out of step with the rest of the kids. She was born unfit to dance.”
Nora’s gaze turned even colder.
Cherry’s physique was incredibly good. Otherwise, Quinn wouldn’t have begged to take her on as a pupil.
That woman named Whitney Lowe? A professional?
Ah.
She asked unhurriedly, “Does this mean Cherry can be part of the dance if someone more professional than you says she’s fit to dance?”
